Dunedin, Florida: Dunedin Pipe Band Drum

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Dunedin Pipe Band Drum Bagpipe I just wanted to post this one more picture relating to the Bagpipe Band or the Pipe Band as they call it. Since so many of you enjoyed the picture of them in their kilts, I will have it in the back of my mind to get to their next event. More pictures, and if I can wangle it, I will try to get a little video, to see if I can capture the sound for you. We'll see!

Thanks for all your visits and kind comments. I am still working to get caught up with many of you. And that refers to both old friends and new! Oh, and by the way... HAPPY SATURDAY!!!!! WAHOO!!!!

*Here is a question for you... What about the Natural Pet Food discussion? I know you can get cat food and dog food that ranges from super cheap at 25 cents a can, on up to all natural pet food that costs over two bucks for a small can. I always figured that the food sold in Pet Stores was just overpriced. But what about All Natural Pet Food? What do you feed your pets? (Please leave a comment if you are so inclined. Dunedin, Florida: City Daily Photo Theme Day!

Welcome to Theme Day in the City Daily Photo Community. Today is February 1st, and the theme is "What Your City Is Known For". I struggled just a little on this, trying to narrow it down. So I am posting two today. I hope you enjoy them.

Dunedin, Florida: City Of Dunedin Pipe Band Kilts Bagpipes It's for real! The City of Dunedin Pipe Band is the real deal. And what a sound! I was fortunate to catch this group practicing near City Hall on a recent weekend. So I was able to take a more informal photo of them. It is an amazing thing to see and hear a real live, seriously competent Pipe Band. If you get the chance, don't miss it!

Dunedin, Florida: Downtown Dunedin Entrance Main Street Visitor Center This is the other thing that Dunedin seems to be well known for... their wonderful, engaging downtown area. The City of Dunedin has worked hard to create a inviting and welcoming downtown area. The Downtown Merchants Association also work hard to make this wonderful downtown experience a reality.

There are over 130 blogs participating in Theme Day today. Please take a moment to check out the list below. Click on any name to take an armchair tour of that city. Have a great time!

Dunedin, Florida: Honeymoon Island Dog Beach: Dog Wash!

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Honeymoon Island Dog Beach: Dog Wash! I had thought the people who manage Honeymoon Island State Park must be pretty cool, when I heard they have a pet beach. But then, when I got there and saw this, I thought "These people are AWESOME!". I mean, this is like considering the whole deal instead of just throwing up some signs and leaving it at that. It is so nice to see them making the effort for those 'alternate family members' that we love so much.

And be sure to check out We Love Dog Pictures.

Dunedin, Florida: Honeymoon Island Dog Beach: My New Best Friend

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Honeymoon Island Dog Beach: Man's Best Friend As promised... Meet my new best friend. Actually, if I were really a true friend, I would know his name. Sadly, I neglected to ask. But he is a handsome dog, that's for sure. Like I said, he was having a good time, and getting used to the beach. I hope it was worth the wait Lara.

I have to admit, when I see medium sized and large dogs it makes me miss my dog. My good friend Buddy, who would run up and down the hill until his tongue was dragging on the ground. My curious best friend Buddy who didn't whimper at all when I had to wash him down with tomato juice in the middle of winter after he learned, the smelly way, about skunks. Buddy was a good dog, and I miss him still.

And be sure to check out We Love Dog Pictures.

Dunedin, Florida: Honeymoon Island Dog Beach!

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Honeymoon Island Dog Beach! While touring the Dog Beach, or actually the Pet Beach, on Honeymoon Island recently, I saw these two having a good time. It was a breezy day, as you heard yesterday, and there were not many people on the beach. Nice.

This dog is actually a youngster, and he was not too keen on going into the water when his ball rolled in. So his owner would have to pluck it out of the waves each time. She told me this was only his second time out on the beach, so he is still getting used to it.

There are not a lot of places around here where you can enjoy the beach with your pet. And I cannot imagine many places that would be nicer to take a dog. There is plenty of room here for lots of dogs. In fact, I will have to post another picture, later, that I took in the parking lot at this beach. They actually have dog wash-off stations!

I caught up with the two in the picture, and she let me take a picture of her beautiful dog. He was really friendly, and even gave my lens a kiss. Oy! But that picture is for tomorrow. See you then.

And be sure to check out We Love Dog Pictures.

Dunedin, Florida: Honeymoon Island State Park Beach

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Honeymoon Island State Park Beach Okay, okay, can anyone refer me to a twelve step program for wide angle abusers? 'I'm sorry,' he said for the hundredth time, 'I can't help it. I see a sweeping vista, and I have to have it ALL. I crank that zoom ring until the lens is pegged as wide as it will go, and then I start snapping!'

Honestly, there was just sooo much beach, and Gulf of Mexico, and so much SKY! So forgive me if the edges of the world are creeping up just a bit. I had to do whatever I could to capture as much of it as I could, for you! In fact, I have also uploaded an even larger version than the click-to-see above. If you would like to see an 1800px wide version of this picture, click here. (The one above is 600px wide, the click-to-see is 1200px wide.)

For the record, when I took this picture, I was standing in the Dog Beach section of the island. Yes, it is a beach where you can bring your pets and frolic in the sand and surf with them. Neat, eh? In the picture, I am looking pretty much West, or maybe Northwest, with the Gulf of Mexico ahead, and Hurricane Pass to my left. There were not many people around, and I can only imagine that is because it was a bit windy and chilly for the locals.

And be sure to check out We Love Dog Pictures.

Dunedin, Florida: Dunedin Marina, Rabbit the Scooter

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Dunedin Marina, Rabbit the Scooter How strange it was to find this little Scooter, with the name Rabbit on the side, at the Dunedin Marina surrounded by several million dollars worth of yachts and sailboats. But then, we all have to try to conserve somehow, don't we.
