Dunedin, Florida: Quiet Street Scene #3

Dunedin, Florida: Quiet Street Scene #3 Honestly, I have NO idea if this is the third street scene I have posted. But it sounded good, so what the heck. Here is a typical older street scene in an average Dunedin neighborhood. Working class maybe? I guess you might call it that. A working man's neighborhood, perhaps that is a better way to put it.

What are you doing today? Walking down your street? What's it like? Is it quiet? Can you notice the sound of birds singing in the trees?

Dunedin, Florida: Flamingo Crossing!

Dunedin, Florida: Flamingo Crossing! This is one of my favorite decorated mail boxes! I don't normally go for signs like this, and you won't find one on my mailbox. But I always smile when I see it.

The rest of their front yard is just as appealing. Maybe I'm naive, but I can't help but assume these people must be pretty okay people. I hope I am right. Happy Friday!

Dunedin, Florida: Bike Riding Quiet Guy

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Bike Riding Quiet Guy I always try to get out of my office for a little while each day, to get some fresh air and take a walk. I usually go around the same time. It really helps to get out and get moving. I guess it gets the blood pumping, and all the right chemicals feeding into my brain.

Over the last couple of weeks, I have seen this same old man riding his bicycle. Some days it is a blue tricycle, other days a green bicycle. The strange thing is that he just will not say hello. I mean it. The first few times we passed, I always nodded and said hi or good morning. He would just look at me and look away again. So now I just look at him, and he just looks at me, and that's that. I suppose it would just ruin everything if he said hello to me.

PS. Happy Thursday. When is the last time you told the people you love that you love them?

Dunedin, Florida: Signs Of The Season: Spring Cleaning!

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Signs Of The Season: Spring Cleaning! Yes, indeed, Spring is in the air, and trash cans are in the street! Well, not quite in the street, but I think you get the drift. It's Spring! And the cleaning is what's going on! I can almost imagine what is it like for the garbage collection men driving their routes in Springtime and coming upon large groups of trash cans like this one. UGH!

By the way, if you haven't given blood lately, please think about giving soon! It doesn't matter where you live, or which blood service you go to, just get out and give!

Dunedin, Florida: FIELD TRIP! Sawgrass Lake Park

Dunedin, Florida: FIELD TRIP! Sawgrass Lake Park St. Petersburg GATOR! DW and I took an impromptu mini-vacation Sunday, and spent a few hours at Sawgrass Lake Park, in St. Petersburg. It is a really beautiful place. It's amazing to think that it exists here, in the middle of this densely populated county.

St. Petersburg is just about 15 or 20 minutes south of Dunedin, and it is really easy to find this park. This is actually not even the first alligator we saw at the park. I have some other pictures to share, perhaps, of the babies we saw too. But this shot was such a nice clear image of this wonderful animal. I'd say it was about 5 or 6 feet long. We were watching safely from a position on the deck, about 4 or 5 feet above.

All in all that day, we saw three adult alligators of about this size, 4 baby alligators that were about a foot long, a GIANT soft-shelled turtle, and a wide variety of other wildlife. It was an awesome holiday away from chores and work and worries.

Dunedin, Florida: Walking With Crows

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Walking With Crows Crows. While enjoying a short walk the other day, I noticed I had company. It seemed weird. I mean, crows are all around us, yes, but it seemed as though they acknowledged my presence. What does it mean, I wondered.

I got no answer, of course, but I wondered just the same. When suddenly you seem to be surrounded by crows, what are they up to? Are they just curious? Are they watching because they know something about me I don't know? Or is it because they sense a kindred troubled soul?

Happy Monday.

Dunedin, Florida: Fenway History: Schiller International University

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Fenway History: Schiller International University Somewhere in the long and storied history of the Fenway Hotel, it was once occupied by one campus of the Schiller International University. The University has since moved on, or closed down, I don't know which. If you've been here before you might have read a little bit about the Fenway being restored.

But when it was Schiller International University, they painted some neat murals on the walls of some of the classroom buildings toward the back of the property. I happened to snap some of those murals one day when I was invited onto the property to take pictures. Pretty neat stuff, don't you think?
