Dunedin, Florida: Pinellas Trail Sign Downtown Dunedin

Dunedin, Florida: Pinellas Trail Sign Downtown Dunedin One of the things I like about publishing this daily photo blog, one of the things that I get out of it, is the refreshed perspective that sometimes jumps out at me from pictures I took.

When I snapped this image, I was intent on getting the man on the bicycle passing under the Pinellas Trail sign. That was my 'focus' at that moment. Later, when I was reviewing the images from that day's snapping, I got more out of it. Now I see a quaint, cozy, inviting downtown area that makes me want to spend more time there, when I look at this photograph. Downtown Dunedin is always like that, but it's easy to forget sometimes when 'life gets in the way'. Does that happen to you?

Dunedin, Florida: Train Station Turned Historical Society Museum If you look closely, you may recognize the building in this picture from yesterday's shot. This is from the other side though, and now you can see it better as the train station it once was... many years ago.

Nowadays, it is the Dunedin Historical Society Museum. They have a little bit of a web site. Click here if you would like to see it.

Dunedin, Florida: Delightful Dunedin Downtown Is Pedestrian Friendly

Dunedin, Florida: Delightful Dunedin Downtown Is Pedestrian Friendly If you are in the mood for a fine Downtown Dunedin Lunch, remember you can park easier now that the public parking lot is open again. That restores the pedestrian friendly nature of this area, as you can park your car and walk about comfortably. Even the egret, seen in this picture, seems to get the pedestrian thing.

Main Street flows from right to left in this image, and is crossed by the Pinellas Trail where you see the brick crossing. In the background you can see the clock tower peeking out above the trees. Oh look, I was downtown at lunch time. It's a nice getaway to head downtown and wander about during lunch.

Dunedin, Florida: Time Out Cafe: Trailside Downtown Lunch, Ice Cream If you happen to be cruising the Pinellas Trail through Downtown Dunedin, don't miss a chance to check out the Time Out Cafe. As in, time out from biking or running or skating or walking to have some great lunch, and enjoy the wonderful downtown scenery. The same applies to those of you cruising through in your cars, which will be easier now that they have re-opened the public parking lot next to Ocean Optics. Yahoo!

These nice folks were visiting the area, and loving Downtown Dunedin. From where they are standing in the photo, it is just a short walk to all the cool shops in Downtown Dunedin, as well as a number of excellent hotels, motels, and bed-and-breakfast locations. And let's not forget the numerous dining choices, when they get hungry later in the day!

Dunedin, Florida: Boats All-A-Bobbing At The Marina

Dunedin, Florida: Boats All-A-Bobbing At The Marina The Dunedin Marina... rows of pretty watercraft... afloat on rolling swells of liquid silver... pretty place to take a walk... or have a peaceful lunch.

What of the life afloat? What of the sailor's life? A life at sea, is it right for you, would it be right for me?

Dunedin, Florida: Big Sky Over Dunedin Marina

Dunedin, Florida: Big Sky Over Dunedin Marina In snapping this photograph, I was trying to capture the sensation of BIG SKY that I felt at the time. Looking up at the sky over St. Joseph Sound, with the pinkish gray clouds, the sky seemed even more enormous than reality.

I hope you can get a sense of the feeling when you see this picture. You can click on it to see a larger version of the image. Perhaps that will help. Again, like I said yesterday, we seem so very small when compared to the scope of the environment around us.

Dunedin, Florida: Honeymoon Island Sunset #3

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Honeymoon Island Sunset #3 It seems like it has been a while since I posted a sunset. So I reached back in time to post this one. Hopefully, I will find time to enjoy another sunset soon.

I never have figured out why I find sunsets so magical, or significant. In many ways, it is just the end of another day. Well, at least to the person watching the sunset. To someone else, around the globe, our sunset is actually their sunrise. Could it be that on some level we realize that a sunset is an incredible celestial event that represents moving objects so large and powerful that we can barely conceive of them? After all, compared to the sun, we are no more than little bits of dust floating in the heavens.
