I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I did not even know there was such a place as Purple Heart Park here in Dunedin. And yet, I have now taken a picture, at 9:28 PM, of a clock that proves there is such a place. Well, at least as far as it has it written above the face of the clock!
But please don't ask me about the park. I was so focused on the clock, and it was rather dark at that hour, that I really did not see much of the rest of the park. But I will keep my eyes open for it next time.

I'm wondering if it is a tribute to soldiers who have earned the Purple Heart?
ReplyDeleteNow that's a fancy smanshy clock Wayne. The numbers look like they came off a old Stones or Beatles album cover.
ReplyDeleteOn August 7, 2008, the City of Dunedin was honored through the dedication of the new Purple Heart Park just north of the intersection of Main Street and Edgewater Drive. The park is right next to the SunTrust bank branch on Alt 19. It is dedicated to all of our service people who have been given a Purple Heart. If you Google "Purple Heart Dunedin FL", you will be able to read all about it. Our friend, Al Lentz, who is the recipient of 2 Purple Heart awards and a veteran of two tours of duty in Viet Nam was instrumental in seeing this monument come to fruition. It took a lot of hard work on the part of the very veterans to whom we owe our freedom to see this project come to pass. Thank you to everybody involved. We love you Al :)
