I came across this sign as I walked around Lake Paloma recently. As I read it, I suddenly got the sensation that I was being watched. Quickly, I checked my feet to make sure they were not standing on a survey marker. I did NOT want to be construed as having endangered the survey marker. That's when a voice bellowed from the bushes, "HALT! Who goes there?!?!"
No, not really... but hey, it could happen! Really though, it's interesting to see this sign. When I bought 45 acres on a mountainside in Washington State, the corners were marked with things like GIANT TREES, and when you hiked through the woods to them, you scrabbled around in the fallen leaves below to find a not-very-well-marked steel pipe or concrete monument. What fun. It's not like that in the city.
