Dunedin GEM!

Dunedin is so Green in so many ways! How can you not love a city that puts these totally Green, electric cars in their fleet? I came across this utility billing GEM during a lunch time walk. I am so impressed with the City of Dunedin for going this route. The meter reader had parked it on a side street while he walked through the neighborhood reading meters. This is the coolest little car. We should ALL get one! In fact, if you'd like, click here to read more about Global Electric Motorcars. In the meantime, if you would like to see more views of how the City of Dunedin has this one setup, click on the thumbnails below for full size pictures.

Dunedin Florida Downtown - Pt I

Dunedin has a really quaint, welcoming downtown area. They have done a lot to make it a great place to walk and enjoy the ambiance. This is just a little taste of that area. I will be back to capture more of this area for you. The shops are great, whether you are looking for fine jewelry or some touristy trinkets. In fact the same can be said for eating in this area too. More on that soon. If you are considering a relocation, Dunedin Florida is a great place to live. You have great access to all sorts of lifestyle activities, and wonderful shops and neighborhoods to enjoy. Keep coming back, and I will show you more and more of Dunedin.

More Dunedin Housing?

This beauty resides at the Dunedin Marina. And although I cannot be certain that she is being used as a live aboard, it certainly is an option in this area. It really is a beautiful boat, and her name is Regard. Now, for fun, check out the name of the dinghy stowed on top of the cabin... Or if you cannot afford a boat this nice, perhaps you could live in one of the condo's in the background. After all, you would not be living on a beautiful boat, but you would have great views of lots of beautiful boats (without all the upkeep). It is a thought, isn't it?

Sweet Home in Yellow, Dunedin, FL

Another in the Homes of Dunedin series. When I see a small home like this, with the two chairs on the front porch, or what passes for a front porch on this house, I just want to drop out of my day for a while and have a sit. I really think we all don't do that enough. And I can tell you, our bosses don't help at all. But that is another post altogether. This is not the biggest home in Dunedin, for sure, but it is definitely one of the more peaceful looking homes. What do you think?

Sweet Home Dunedin, FL

I've noticed this cute little house for sale across the street from the pond (Lake Paloma) I walk around. It has been for sale for a while now. First it was for sale by owner, and now it is being listed by a Realtor. Not a bad little house, from the street. I believe it is 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom. Detached one car garage. They have done some updating. They are asking $188,000 for it. To me it seems a little steep, but then, around here housing costs have gone through the roof in the last few years. But it is still a nice looking home, with a nice big tree shading the backyard. That is a real plus here in Florida. And I think this will be the beginning of a series of home and housing shots I will post here. Maybe it will give you, the reading visitor, a better idea of what Dunedin is like in person. What sort of house do you live in?

Dunedin, Florida: Lake Paloma Duck Crossing Sign

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Lake Paloma Duck Crossing Sign I don't know the people who put this sign up... but I like them just the same. I have observed several broods of ducklings appear around this tiny lake, Lake Paloma, only to watch sadly as their numbers dwindle. The whole lake is surrounded by streets, with only a narrow verge of bank between. So the ducks are crossing the road all the time. I am sure that many of the ducklings are lost to cats, dogs, etc... but I find hope in the sign that maybe a few less will fall victim to vehicular duck-slaughter.

On a brighter note, the weather is getting to be quite delightful around here. Finally cool enough to enjoy a walk outside. The humidity has fallen through the floor, and that is okay with me. Well, to a point. I noticed that this area is under a red flag warning due to humidity so low that wildfires are a high risk.

On a lighter note, here are a few other views of Lake Paloma that you may enjoy: ____

Dunedin, Florida: Dunedin Annual Art Harvest Art Show

Dunedin, Florida: Dunedin Annual Art Harvest Art ShowWahoo! Who loves a good art show? I DO! I DO!

Welcome to Art Harvest 2007. Featuring 233 artists from the United States and Great Britain, this is perhaps Dunedin's biggest show of the year. Over 50,000 people are expected to visit the two day event. And it is WONDERFUL. If all the awesome art was not enough, there is a food court that sends the most enticing smells drifting throughout the venue. Yummy!

If you can get to Dunedin, Florida next November... the first weekend to be specific, then you don't want to miss the Art Harvest art show. And hat's off to the Junior League of Clearwater-Dunedin for this fine show, and to the City of Dunedin for keeping it in Dunedin!!

See you there next year!
