Dunedin, Florida: Eddies Bar And Grill And MONSTER TRUCK!

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Eddies Bar And Grill And MONSTER TRUCK! Have you been by Eddie's Bar and Grill lately? Well, let me tell you, things are not what they used to be... in the parking lot! Wow... I almost hit a curb trying to look over my shoulder at this beast last night. I just HAD to go back and try and get some pictures.

So I went in and asked for the manager. That's when I met Matt. Now, I've eaten at Eddie's several times, and always enjoyed it, but I'd never met Matt before. He turned out to be way cool, as would be expected from such a cool place as Eddie's. He even offered to fire up the smoke machines in the truck for me. Unfortunately, the wind was not cooperating, and kept blowing the smoke away. But I took a bunch of pics, hoping one would come close to showing you what I saw in person. It is a REALLY cool truck.

If you haven't tried Eddie's yet, you have to check it out. Do me a favor and tell them you read about them on Dunedin Daily Photo. Here is a link to their website page showing where to find them. Oh heck, I almost forgot I have this other picture I wanted to post too:

Dunedin, Florida: Paloma Lake Boy Scout Project: Heron Island

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Paloma Lake Boy Scout Project: Heron Turtle Island Checking back on the Boy Scout Project that I first posted about back in December of last year. The plantings around the lake are doing really well now. And the floating islands are really filling in nicely. I have watched the turtles and herons enjoying this particular island since shortly after it was launched. Now they share it with a healthy shock of lush green growth.

DINING NOTE: I found the coolest little place for cool eats and drinks in Downtown Dunedin yesterday. It's called "Light Bites ...the Mermaid Tavern". Comfortable is the first word I can think of to describe it. Friendly would be the second word. I was fortunate to meet the owner Kimberly Frazier, and found her an entertaining and gracious hostess. Currently, the hours are 6pm to 9pm or ? on weekdays, and 9am to 3pm on Saturdays. I will be heading back for pictures next time, so look for more about this neat place in future posts.

Where is Light Bites? 927 Broadway Street (aka Alt 19), Ste A. Just South of the Holiday Inn Express & North of the Sun Trust Bank. Parking is available adjacent to Light Bites in front of the dental building as well as in the rear. When parking in the rear, look for the mermaid tavern sign marking the back door.

Dunedin, Florida: Happi Wok Lunch

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Happi Wok Lunch One of my favorite places for lunch is the Happi Wok. It's at the corner of County Road 1 and Main Street, in the Winn Dixie plaza.

It's not the greatest place for dine in. There are only a few small tables, and it is usually pretty warm in there. But for Chinese food take out... I LOVE IT.

Dunedin, Florida: Delightful Dunedin Downtown Is Pedestrian Friendly

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Delightful Dunedin Downtown Is Pedestrian Friendly If you are in the mood for a fine Downtown Dunedin Lunch, remember you can park easier now that the public parking lot is open again. That restores the pedestrian friendly nature of this area, as you can park your car and walk about comfortably. Even the egret, seen in this picture, seems to get the pedestrian thing.

Main Street flows from right to left in this image, and is crossed by the Pinellas Trail where you see the brick crossing. In the background you can see the clock tower peeking out above the trees. Oh look, I was downtown at lunch time. It's a nice getaway to head downtown and wander about during lunch.

Dunedin, Florida: Time Out Cafe: Trailside Lunch, Ice Cream

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Time Out Cafe: Trailside Downtown Lunch, Ice Cream If you happen to be cruising the Pinellas Trail through Downtown Dunedin, don't miss a chance to check out the Time Out Cafe. As in, time out from biking or running or skating or walking to have some great lunch, and enjoy the wonderful downtown scenery. The same applies to those of you cruising through in your cars, which will be easier now that they have re-opened the public parking lot next to Ocean Optics. Yahoo!

These nice folks were visiting the area, and loving Downtown Dunedin. From where they are standing in the photo, it is just a short walk to all the cool shops in Downtown Dunedin, as well as a number of excellent hotels, motels, and bed-and-breakfast locations. And let's not forget the numerous dining choices, when they get hungry later in the day!

Dunedin, Florida: Pinellas Trail Will Set You Straight

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Pinellas Trail Downtown Lots of people take advantage of their lunch hour to stretch their legs for a bit on the Pinellas Trail. As it runs right through the center of Downtown Dunedin, it is easily accessible to folks before or after they enjoy a Downtown Dunedin lunch. There are quite a few restaurants near the trail in this area.

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

Dunedin, Florida: Deli News Cafe: The Big Picture This is the big picture, at Deli News Cafe, that shows the whole front of the building and how the two wall murals fit together. It's a really fun place, like I said, and I like the way it looks. They even have more murals on the walls inside. I will get those for you another time. When I snapped these pictures of the outside, I had to get them while they were closed, so no cars would be parked in the way.

Dunedin, Florida: Bon Appetit Restaurant & Marina Cafe

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Bon Appetit Restaurant & Marina Cafe This is the Bon Appetit Restaurant, and Marina Cafe, entrance. This fine restaurant is located at the north end of the Dunedin Marina. There is also a resort there called the Yacht Harbor Inn. It's a great location, right on the water. It's the perfect place to have a great meal and watch the boats come and go in the Marina.

In fact, I had to walk past this entrance to get out on the pier where I took the picture of the woman fishing. When you walk down the docks near Bon Appetit, heading for the pier for an after dinner stroll, listing closely, and you may hear the parrot in yesterday's post. Tell him I said hi! If you would like to check out their menus, or learn more about the lodgings, click here to visit their website in a new window.

Dunedin Florida: Downtown Places I'd Like To Eat: Sea Sea Riders

Dunedin Florida: Downtown Places I'd Like To Eat: Sea Sea Riders This is a place that has caught my eye because I think it just looks so neat. I have never eaten there, and I don't recall ever hearing anyone's opinion of it. So I have to add it to my list of places I look forward to trying. It is called Sea Sea Riders Restaurant. They even have a website, so you can check out the menu if you like.

Regarding location, Sea Sea Riders is just about a half block from the Dunedin Marina and about a block from the Main Street Downtown area. That would put it about two blocks from the Dunedin Trail, so it would not be too far out of the way if you are enjoying the trail when you decide it's time for lunch.

If you would like to see more of the area, check out Clearwater Beach Daily Photo and Clearwater Daily Photo. If you enjoy photography for the sake of photography, check out my photo blog. (Oh, hey, did you bookmark this page yet?)

City Of Dunedin Florida - Pioneer Park Bandshell

I know this is in Pioneer Park, in the City of Dunedin, but I am not sure one would call it a band shell. Stage perhaps, covered stage? Either way, it is a lovely structure, and it looks great in this park downtown. I can also tell you that they have a Green Market here, and show movies in the park here from time to time. Usually older movies. Some recent titles have been Arsenic and Old Lace, as well as Casablanca.

From here, many shops and restaurants are in walking distance. They are too many to name, but some that I have mentioned before include Casa Tina, Cafe Alfresco, The Enchanted Branch Gift Gallery, and Palm Latitudes. In the future, you will see more and more of these places, as I do my best to capture life in Dunedin, Florida in pixels, for you.

Dunedin Florida Decorated Light Pole Contest Pt II

I have been hunting down more of the decorated light poles in Downtown Dunedin. I found these just the other day. A matching pair out in front of a local Law Firm. Trying saying this fast: Frazer, Hubbard, Brandt, Trask & Yacavone, Attorneys At Law. In fact, if you click here to see their website, at the top of the page you can see the light pole, without decoration, that is now the "Nice" list. Pretty cool eh?

I have to correct some earlier information now. In an earlier posting, click here, I posted a photograph of a light pole decorated with a Dia de los Muertos theme. In that post I described the City of Dunedin's Light Pole Decorating Contest. Foolishly, I assumed that pole was a part of that contest. So, when I walked by the other day, looking for more decorated light poles, the pole had changed! It was still decorated in a theme that seemed Mexican in origin, but it was NOT the same. So, I walked into the Mexican restaurant across the street to ask some questions.

The restaurant is called Casa Tina. When I asked about the light pole, I got the scoop. They had decorated that pole alright, but the Dia de los Muertos theme was for Halloween! They simply hadn't taken it down and put up the Christmas holidays theme decorations yet. I see, said the blind man! Casa Tina is a really cool place, and if you click here you can check out their website and their menu. And in a future post, I will show you more of the decorated light poles that I found!

Dunedin Main Street Shops

This will probably end up being a series also, in as much as there are a number of neat shops that I want to share with you. I believe the name of this shop is Palm Latitudes, and it fits! They have all kinds of cool stuff in there. Ceramic frogs that look so cool and awesome pirate t-shirts and napkins with funny sayings... you know the kind that have you standing there reading them for twenty minutes while you laugh your butt off! And lots and lots more stuff. Really cool. I rarely make it past this store when I am downtown. It is just too much fun. If you remember Cafe Alfresco, from a previous posting, then it will make sense when I tell you this shop is just down the sidewalk from there. But don't worry if that doesn't make sense to you... just get downtown and you will find it all. :) Oh, and yes, Brasov Daily Photo, the bench will be there waiting for you, on the waterfront.

Dunedin FL Downtown Pt II - Entrance

Welcome to Downtown Dunedin Florida! This welcoming entrance brings you into the area that I posted a photo of earlier. It is one of those downtown areas that has been made so welcoming and attractive that you would enjoy going for a walk here just to experience the feeling, as if all the dining and shopping choices we not even there :). But you might want to consider a Downtown Dunedin lunch while you are here! When you come to Dunedin, or the Greater Tampa Bay area, you will want to visit Dunedin's Downtown!

Logistically speaking, this area is less than a mile from the Dunedin Marina, Dunedin City Hall, Mease Dunedin Hospital, and lots of beautiful housing and Dunedin real estate (Lots of which I will be posting on this site in the future). Not to mention a wonderful waterfront trail for walking, biking or skating.

Dunedin Florida Downtown - Pt I

Dunedin has a really quaint, welcoming downtown area. They have done a lot to make it a great place to walk and enjoy the ambiance. This is just a little taste of that area. I will be back to capture more of this area for you. The shops are great, whether you are looking for fine jewelry or some touristy trinkets. In fact the same can be said for eating in this area too. More on that soon. If you are considering a relocation, Dunedin Florida is a great place to live. You have great access to all sorts of lifestyle activities, and wonderful shops and neighborhoods to enjoy. Keep coming back, and I will show you more and more of Dunedin.
