Dunedin, Florida: Dunedin Real Estate: Love The Shade Trees!

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Dunedin Real Estate: Love The Shade Trees! This is a good example of the kind of homes I like... shaded by wonderful oak trees. No, sorry, not such a big fan of the palm tree or the cactus, although they all have their places. It's those beautiful oak trees that catch my eye. I love them!

Well, did you see Tony Bennett last night? He was performing at Coachman Park in the Clearwater Jazz Holiday. No, I didn't get to see him either. But I bet it was pretty cool. And there's lots more great music coming. Check out the entertainment schedule.

Dunedin, Florida: Dunedin Real Estate: The Color Yellow

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Dunedin Real Estate: The Color Yellow I have to admit, this house reminds me of a paint company commercial. I mean, WOW, that is a YELLOW HOUSE! I wonder if there is anything inside referring to the Beatles Yellow Submarine?

Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's a bad color at all. But I do feel a bit overpowered when I look at it for any length of time. I just don't think I would have the courage to paint my house that color. Of course, at least nobody is going to walk off with it, you could spot them a mile away!

Dunedin, Florida: Neat Looking House!

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Neat Looking House Home Real Estate Balcony Terrace Veranda Something about this scene draws me in. I so want to be sitting up on that second floor deck. Or balcony. Or terrace. Or veranda or WHATEVER it's called. It just looks like such a comfortable place to relax.

Now that's saying a lot, because I really don't go for that kind of architecture generally. But this place really looks neat. Of course, some of that has to come from the way cool landscaping. I mean, it might be a little out of control here and there, but I like it!

Dunedin, Florida: Cute Little House Among The Trees

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Cute Little House Among The Trees Real Estate When I saw this neat looking little house, with its wonderful tree shaded property, I thought I would share it with you all as an example of nice Dunedin Real Estate.

This posting does, however, make me think that perhaps I am painting too rosy a picture for you. Perhaps I should post the not-so-attractive side of Dunedin once in a while. Tell you what... next time I see something that makes me think "nope, don't want to post a picture of that", I will snap the shot and post it anyhow.

Dunedin, Florida: Edgewater Drive: Waterfront Light Show

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Edgewater Drive: Waterfront Light Show The funny thing is, it didn't look like a light show when I was down there snapping pictures! It just looked like cars driving by, and the sun going down, and a beautiful golden glow covering all the wonderful homes there.

I know these pictures are easy to come by, but it doesn't seem to keep me from taking some more of them whenever I get the chance. It's like clouds, trees, and so on... there are certain subjects that, no matter how many images of them I might already have, I always snap some more when I see it again. Oy! What about you?

Dunedin, Florida: Lush Florida Style Landscaping

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Lush Florida Style Landscaping Palm Tree Arbor Trellis Vines I am afraid this photograph just doesn't capture the lushness I feel when I see this yard in person. It's not the most wonderful yard landscape I have ever seen, but it is basic, and effective, and welcoming. It just feels good to look at it.

I think the low hedge is Plumbago, which a lot of people use in this neighborhood. The vines on the arbor are, I think, some sort of Jasmine. I could be wrong. Jasmine is one of my favorite plants, and there are so many wonderful varieties. In the yard of a former home, I had no less than seven varieties of Jasmine growing, including Night Blooming Jasmine. They really filled the yard with the most wonderful smells. What's your favorite plant?

Dunedin, Florida: Old Rusty Metal Industrial Building: Ready To Recycle

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Old Rusty Metal Industrial Building: Ready To Recycle This place is on my list of buildings I would like to take the time to record thoroughly, with my camera. It's old. It's industrial. It's metal. It's rusty. I love it. I'm one of those people who, IF he had millions, would buy old places like this (and old barns) and turn them into really cool homes that look like old rusty buildings. Makes perfect sense doesn't it?

While I look at something like this and think it should be recycled, I also think how wonderful it is that Nature can, in time, completely wipe away all traces of our existence. Or perhaps I should give that credit to Time, not Nature. Or perhaps it is the Nature of Time? Or they work together? What do you think?

Dunedin, Florida: Happy Florida-Style Dumpster

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Happy Florida-Style Dumpster I can't say that all the dumpsters in Downtown Dunedin are this stylish, but I like the look of this one. Sure, dumpsters are generally dirty and ugly (unless you are making a million dollars with them), but I think it's great fun to see the life someone painted into this one. What do they look like in your town?

By the way, this weekend: Historic Homes Tour on Saturday, March 8, from 11AM to 4PM. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 day of. Includes the Fenway and the Dunedin Grand among others. Call the Dunedin Historical Society Museum for details; (727)736-1176.

Dunedin, Florida: Homes & Housing II

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Homes & Housing II Another neat little home in Dunedin. Just down the street, off the main road, in a quiet little neighborhood of smaller homes. This one appears to be even smaller than the one posted Saturday.

It looks as though the front lawn might need some TLC. I like that it has a porch, though. I think that is important to make a house a welcome home. Isn't that right, Felicia? :)

Dunedin, Florida: Homes & Housing

Click for larger picture in a new window
Dunedin, Florida: Homes & Housing I passed this little house while on a walk the other day. I thought what a cute little home. Dunedin has some wonderful neighborhoods that are filled with older homes that come from a time when they did not build them quite so big or so fancy. But they built them cozy and cute and homey.

It pays to get off the main drag and see what the neighborhoods around you are like. It's good to know there are neat little houses out there. After all, you never know when you are going to be in the market. In fact, there is a little house down the street from this one that is one the market for US$188,000. That's a lot in some parts of the country, and not much at all in other parts. What's it like where you live?

Dunedin Florida: Homes and Housing: Home for Rent

Dunedin Florida: Homes and Housing: Home for Rent Getting back to homes and housing in the Dunedin, Florida area, here is a house in my neighborhood that is for rent. Or at least, it was when I took the photo! The sign said it had 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a 2 car garage. I am guessing it has about 1400 square feet of living space, maybe as much as 1600.

As for the neighborhood... well, you are about 7 minutes from the Dunedin Downtown area, driving. Also, about that from the Mease Hospital Dunedin. Another three minutes or so will get you to the Dunedin Marina. I would guess between 15 and 20 minutes from the Dunedin Causeway and Honeymoon Island. Right down the street, like a minute or two away, you will find Pizza Hut, Wendy's, Taco Bell, Papa John's, McDonald's and more. Three minutes away you are at Sweetbay, the grocery store, or at Ace Hardware. Oh my, where am I going with this? Oh yes, so it is a pretty good location. Close to a lot of things.

Oh, and perhaps most importantly... the sign says the rent is $1,295 per month. And I could go on and on about how close it is to things... like the mall, Westfield Countryside Shopping Town is only about 8 or 10 minutes away. So, just an idea of what is available. There are smaller homes in neighborhoods with smaller lots, and bigger homes with bigger lots, available throughout Dunedin and the surrounding areas. In the future, we will get to see more and more of them, so you can get an idea of what housing is like here... on the off chance you are thinking about relocation. :D

Dunedin, Florida Homes - Downtown area - Mease Dunedin Hospital

There are a number of attractive housing options near the Dunedin Downtown area. This is a cute bungalow in a neighborhood nearby. It's got some nice overhang on the eaves, and a welcoming front porch that all help keep the heat of the sun out of the house. Not to mention a beautiful tree shading the front yard. That front porch really does seem as though it would be a delightful place to spend a warm afternoon, catching up with friends and neighbors.

If you look just above the roof line of the house, you can see the top of Mease Dunedin Hospital a few blocks in the distance. Dunedin, Florida is lucky to be home to an excellent hospital, just a few blocks from downtown.

Dunedin Florida Homes

Here is another fine example of the kind of housing we have here in Dunedin. This would probably be considered a typical home in a nice mid-level neighborhood. There are a number of homes available for sale or rent in this neighborhood. One just down the street, that is a little smaller, is selling for US$ 219,000.

From this spot, it is only a short drive to grocery stores, restaurants, various shops, and more. Just a little further, no more than 5 or 10 minutes drive, are the Downtown Dunedin area, Mease Hospital Dunedin, Westfield Countryside Mall, and much, much, more. Oh, and it might come in handy for you to know, should you be wanting to search for something in Dunedin, Florida, or map something here, that the zip code is 34698.

Giving Thanks

Oh how I pondered and dithered and pondered some more. How best to represent the many, many things I am thankful for. Other holidays are more easily settled... a Christmas tree, an Easter egg, a Valentine heart, etc. But a turkey on Thanksgiving... it just doesn't say enough. So you look at the two in the picture and ask "What is he thankful for?"

It's not hard to guess, since I am showing the grand-twins, that I am thankful for family. But also for all the wonderful things in our lives that we are able to enjoy. Like fresh air, and clear skies. Living in Dunedin, Florida. A nice warm place to sleep every night. People who love us. The freedom to walk around my neighborhood in the evening, enjoying the moonlight and fresh air. Healthy babies (above). Fuzzy little ducklings. Sizzling sunsets. Fall colored leaves. A quiet place to sit. Food on the table each day. People in the world who care about other people, like Ham supporting Cancer Care, and Free Rice, and Free Hugs. Not to mention people that care about animals.

In addition, I am thankful for gorgeous white birds in county parks where I can see them in person, instead of in a book or museum. For trails and bikes and feet for walking. I'm thankful for the Daily Photo blog that I found that inspired me to start this one. And for the Romanian who teaches us about Brasov. For the incredible photography of OML. For a Boston blogger. I give thanks for ALL the bloggers out there doing City Daily Photo blogs, and who welcomed me into this incredible community. Not to mention all the OTHER photo blogs like this one, and that one, and this other one, and that other one, and any others I forgot at the moment.

I am thankful for the health of loved ones. Forgiveness. Patience. Wisdom. Acceptance. Tolerance. Peace, when it can be had. And I am thankful for YOU, a visitor to my Dunedin Daily Photo blog, because YOU make it all worth while. Thanks for coming today. I wish you and your family the very best Thanksgiving, and a life full of things to be thankful for.

Dunedin Florida Waterfront Home

Another in an intermittent series on the styles and variety of homes in Dunedin, Florida, a little slice of Dunedin real estate. This one is also on Edgewater Dr., right across the street from the water. Very nice homes along here. You can see a neighboring home by clicking here. Also, for Kerri, who requested a close up of the bench in the previous sunset picture: I hope this is close enough... when you click on it. And thanks for your enthusiastic response to the Decorated Light Poles post. I am in the process of capturing the rest of that crowd, and will post accordingly.

Dunedin Sunset on Edgewater Drive

As I finished my shooting of the homes and the trail along Edgewater Drive, I looked back one more time. This shot is the culmination of a large group I took (See Nov. 14 post below for a few of them). You can see one of the benches, with the wavy line, that are sprinkled along the biking & walking path there. I truly had no idea just how well this would come out. I knew I had to try. It just seemed like one of those special moments. I hope you like it.

Dunedin Homes - WATERFRONT!

A beautiful example of Dunedin homes, Dunedin real estate. There are some fine, fine homes on the waterfront here. This house sits just across Edgewater Dr. from Clearwater Harbor. That is also the Intracoastal Waterway as it passes our area. Check below to see what their view is like. And yes, that's my shadow, stretching wraith-like across the road, reaching for the next good shot. The City Of Dunedin has done a great job of making this stretch of waterfront accessible. There is a beautiful walking/biking path right at the water's edge, complete with benches and trash cans. It makes for a wonderful place to catch the sunset... And if you are thinking relocation, this is a great place to sit and watch the boats go by.

Dunedin Moss Draped Trees

If you love the look of moss draped trees shading quiet neighborhood streets and lanes, you might like Dunedin! There are so many varieties of neighborhoods, there is something for everyone. Myself, I love the look. I love the feel of these streets. They seem so peaceful, so tranquil. Coming home to something like this after a day at the office is a great way to unwind. And then, living here in the center of everything that is Florida Wonderful, you get changed and head out for a taste of what makes life worth living.

More Dunedin Housing?

This beauty resides at the Dunedin Marina. And although I cannot be certain that she is being used as a live aboard, it certainly is an option in this area. It really is a beautiful boat, and her name is Regard. Now, for fun, check out the name of the dinghy stowed on top of the cabin... Or if you cannot afford a boat this nice, perhaps you could live in one of the condo's in the background. After all, you would not be living on a beautiful boat, but you would have great views of lots of beautiful boats (without all the upkeep). It is a thought, isn't it?

Sweet Home in Yellow, Dunedin, FL

Another in the Homes of Dunedin series. When I see a small home like this, with the two chairs on the front porch, or what passes for a front porch on this house, I just want to drop out of my day for a while and have a sit. I really think we all don't do that enough. And I can tell you, our bosses don't help at all. But that is another post altogether. This is not the biggest home in Dunedin, for sure, but it is definitely one of the more peaceful looking homes. What do you think?
