I know from friends with businesses that it can be hard to get good sign exposure for their business. The subject of car signs comes up a lot, referred to as the last frontier. So I find myself noticing the signage on trucks and cars around me. The times of hand painted lettering on this type of truck are over. It's all about full cover graphics and skins that cover the vehicle.
Do you notice these ads when they are next to you on the road? If you do, does it take away, detract, from the purpose of the ad to have a large gouge in the middle of it? I can see it both ways, what about you? I have my eyes peeled now, to find interesting versions of mobile advertising. And check out the poll -->>>

oooooooh, I am so sleepy this morning...
ReplyDeletehard not to notice them ... and no , not really .
ReplyDeleteeverything is very visual these days ... well , we do have photo blogs ... hahaha
I notice these things. I just dont notice the cars in front of me.
ReplyDeleteSome of my early students went into the commercial sign business when it was all done by hand. Nowadays they all use big computer systems for everything and they cut and use a lot of vinyl signs.
ReplyDeleteIt is a new world.
Yep, I notice the signs on trucks and Cars. I don't think I would be particularly concerned about damage if it is a product I was interested in.
ReplyDeleteI don't think this kind of advertising is good for pushing a product. That is, I don't think I would be motivated to buy a bed because I saw this. It is good for pull type advertising, such as when you are in the market for something already and are looking for a vendor.
I'm glad to see that it looks as if you are stopped in traffic when you took this photo! I've seen ads on trucks that are multiple ads where levelor blinds rotate the screens. When I see those I think, does this person just drive around all day to do advertising?!
ReplyDeleteI suppose that the signage is a good idea except when drivers on the road scrounge around their car looking for apen to write down the phone numbers... :-)
ReplyDeleteStudies show that the avg. person sees an ad 22 times before it completely registers. That makes putting ads on trucks, buses, etc. a better deal than those in newspapers. Most people ignore newspaper ads, but they are more apt to see something like this.
ReplyDeleteThe worst I have seen in Las Vegas. . . .'Nuff said on that one!! :-)
Now we have large moving billboards on dedicated small trucks. I mean the truck is not carrying anything else - just the bill board. Obviously someone copied the idea from abroad. Before that we used to have moving ads on buses and on autorickshaws, which we still do. The ones on buses and trains here tend to be garish.
