That's right, Dunedin is proud to introduce their very own skate park. Over 10,000 square feet of rolling, flying, curving, swirling concrete skating action. The park was completed in August of this year. It's called
Stirling Skate Park (click here to see the City Of Dunedin web page about it). Don't let the similarity to an empty swimming pool fool you, this place is built for action. This is a City of Dunedin owned and run skate park, with very reasonable fees for using it.
I researched the builders of the park,
Team Pain, and have linked their website to their name here. However, due to the coding they are using on their website, the link will only take you to their home page. You must then choose "Concrete Skate Parks" on the left, and then choose "Stirling Skate Park - Dunedin Florida", in the list on the left (it is the second one down). Once there you will be rewarded with some interesting pictures of the park being built, and then being enjoyed. I was surprised to see that the have also built several parks in Belgium!
Speaking of awesome, have you seen the
Amazon.com skateboarding store
? They have tons of skateboarding must-haves, because really, there's no excuse. You can also support Dunedin Daily Photo by shopping with these advertisers:
Wow. That really is an awesome skate park. I visited the links you provided. Interesting pictures and facts. I'd like to read the waiver they make people sign... ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you too (I'm not leaving the city, at least not for these holidays; I took the sunset photo a few days ago).
Looks like a moon scape or a funky golf course :) For those who cultivate the sport this must be heavenly. Does it get very crowded?
ReplyDeleteThat is one handsome turkey on the right!!
From the portal it looked like snow. I thought, there is no snow in Dunedin. I like the skake park, a great way to let kids release energy. I see kids in my town skateboarding in empty parking lots, church steps, and sidewalks. It an wreck waiting to happen. Great for the City of Dunedin.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea a skate park. The skateboarders here tend to use building steps and driving pavements that sometimes look a little on the hazardous side to skate on.
ReplyDeletecomparing to that one , the one here looks like a joke . a bad one .
ReplyDeletehappy thanksgiving !
Awesome skate park! It is so big. Thanks for visiting me in San Diego!
ReplyDeleteHi Wayne,
ReplyDeleteThis would be just the activity any family should consider after (or maybe before) eating their fill of Thanksgiving delights.
I know I'll need to get some good exercise throughout the day or I'll eat way too much. Salmon and lots of sides for me this year, not turkey.
I hope your day is simply wonderful.
We have to skate on THAT? Eeeeks! Mummmmmy!
